West Indian Manatees: Crystal River, Florida

Manatees eat roughly 10-15% of their body weight of vegetation daily. The feeding starts early in the morning and continues throughout the day. In addition to their staple diet of water hyacinth, they forage on the bottom, in the water and along the shoreline for other aquatic plants like turtle grass and mangrove leaves.
